Dave’s Flying Testimonial

I started flying with my father and a friend many years ago, but it was conservative, straight and level flight for the most part, and I never really caught the “Flying Bug” until recently. A good friend of mine became a private pilot and bought a high performance, aerobatic single engine airplane. He offered to take me up flying and we did a few loops, rolls, some other aerobatic maneuvers, and then some formation flying afterward. I absolutely fell in love with it! I knew right then and there that I wanted to become a pilot and fly like that; it was just a matter of time.

My wife enrolled me in a private pilot ground school course for my birthday and that’s all it took to get me kick started. Shortly afterward I began taking flying lessons with ACRO Air because the instructors came with such high recommendations and had reputations as being great pilots with “natural” flying abilities. In talking to my good friend and some other pilots, I felt that the best way to actually learn to fly (not just drive) an airplane was to learn in a traditional tailwheel plane, maneuvering with a stick and using the rudder pedals to turn on the ground, and then transition later on to tricycle gear airplanes. I wanted to be the best aviator I could be and felt that the ACRO Air instructors, with their tailwheel experience and natural flying abilities were best suited to get me there the quickest. Plus, as an added bonus, the Citabria is a really exciting plane to fly and I was able to fly aerobatic maneuvers with the instructors as part of the learning process. Now that’s pumping up the fun meter!

In addition to being great natural pilots, the instructors at ACRO Air are all very personable, fun loving professionals that share a great love for flying. They have expert knowledge and teaching abilities pertaining to all aspects of aviation. From my first lesson on, I felt completely comfortable flying with them, always had a great time and couldn’t wait to get back up in the air for my next flight! They made the learning process a really enjoyable one, while steadily advancing me through the steps required toward reaching my initial goal of becoming a private pilot with a tailwheel endorsement.

I plan to continue to learn and utilize the instructors at ACRO Air to help me reach my other aviation goals: Aerobatic Proficiency, Instrument Rating, Complex/High Performance Endorsement, Formation Qualification, and who knows what else? I also intend to purchase a plane soon, one that is capable of aerobatic flight, and I’m sure the folks at ACRO Air will assist me in locating the right plane for my needs.
